Matt Southall tries to “invest” in Rochdale, but is faced with a bankruptcy order.

The unwelcome news that Matt Southall is trying to “invest” in Rochdale FC, which is majority owned by its fans was confirmed last week. Rochdale Supporters Trust released this detailed report on an hour- long Zoom meeting their team had with Southall.

As news of his interest broke, it emerged that in December 2020 Southall was ordered by Manchester County Court to pay some £43,000, plus legal costs, to settle unpaid bills for work on his house to Optimus Build, a local building company. Since Optimus have not received the money, they were surprised to see that Southall apparently had £200,000 to invest in their local football club, and took steps to ensure that he first pays his debts…
